Mark Collins,
Niles Township Clerk

As the election came to a close, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Thank you for your support, for showing up, spreading the word, and casting your votes in pursuit of something better. Your commitment to our community means the world to me.

This election was unlike any other. While local elections in Cook County are non-partisan by design — meant to prioritize the people over politics — it’s clear that this race revealed some deep divisions. Non-partisan elections exist for a reason: because local leadership should be rooted in service, not sides. Our focus should be on the issues that matter and the residents we serve, not political labels or party alliances.

Unfortunately, we witnessed some disregard for that principle. When partisanship creeps into spaces meant to be centered on community, it only fractures us further. Local offices should be held by those who listen, who collaborate, and who lead with transparency — not by those who use political power to sidestep accountability or ignore long standing issues.

Still, I remain hopeful. I believe in the strength of this community, and I’m proud of the conversations we started, the voices we elevated, and the momentum we’ve built. This was never just about one race — it was about reminding people that they matter, and that their voice has power.

Thank you for standing with me. This isn’t the end — it’s a new beginning.

Thank You for Your Support!
